Boardwalk trail around an active hot spring area with beautiful view of Lake Yellowstone. Very easy, but interesting.
North Rim Trail
By: rigel on 2004-09-14
Section:Entire Trail
Difficulty:Easy
Conditions:Good
Hiked this trail after 8 inch snow. The trail starts at the Canyon Lake Cabins (P section near cabin 27-28). This route does not include expected side trips down into the canyon to the "brink of the lower falls" or the "brink of the upper falls". The trail was just too snowy to be safe the day we were there.

About 200 ft of elevation change for this hike - it is mostly flat except around Fairy Falls itself. This route includes the entire loop past Imperial Geyser and through Imperial Meadows, back past Goose Lake. Easy trail to follow.

About 800 ft of elevation change. When you reach the loop section, this route makes the loop counter-clockwise which is slightly longer and slight less steep. Great overlook of Lake Yellowstone.
